My Abstract Does Not Show Up In The Table Of Contents

You may have deleted a field code we inserted that tells the Table of Contents where the Abstract is. When show/hide is turned on, the field code looks like this:

{TC ABSTRACT}

You'll have to replace it in order for your TOC to see your ABSTRACT again. We put the code on the 2nd line of the Abstract's introductory text in the hopes that users of the template wouldn't accidentally delete it.

So... here are instructions on how to put the code back:

1. Place your cursor on the 2nd line of the abstract's introductory text (usually after the word "Florida"). It doesn't matter where you put it though, as long as it is somewhere on that line.

2. Go to INSERT - FIELD, and on the left hand side, choose TC from the scrolling menu.

3. Then type ABSTRACT (in all capital letters) in the text field that appears in the center of your dialogue box.

4. Then click "Ok", and {TC "ABSTRACT"} should reappear on that line. Now when you update your TOC, the Abstract will reappear.

If the {TC "ABSTRACT"} field is present and still does not show up there is a problem with your Table of Contents set up and you will have to set up another.

PC - Click just to the left of the "A" in ACKNOWLEDGMENTS to place your cursor where you want the new Table to begin. Next, click on the "References" tab, then click on "Table of Contents" and at the the bottom of the drop-down menu "Insert Table of Contents."

In the dialog box that opens click on the options button on the bottom right of the window. In the options window that opens make sure "Table entry fields" is checked. Click "OK" until you're back to the document where it will ask if you want to replace the current TOC. Answer yes, and your ABSTRACT should be back.

MAC - Click just to the left of the "A" in ACKNOWLEDGMENTS to place your cursor where you want the new Table to begin. Next, click on the "Insert" menu, and choose "Index and Tables."

In the dialog box that opens click on the options button on the bottom right of the window. In the options window that opens make sure "Table entry fields" is checked. Click "OK" until you're back to the document where it will ask if you want to replace the current TOC. Answer yes, and your ABSTRACT should be back.
