Displaying Full Message Headers In Email

Outlook 2013

  1. 1. Open Outlook.
  2. 2. Open the email in a separate window.
  3. 3. Select the “Home” tab
  4. 4. From the Tags group, select the “Properties Dialog Box Launcher”

Header information appears in the Internet headers box.

Outlook 2011

  1. 1. Open Outlook.
  2. 2. Ctrl+Click (or right-click with a two-button mouse) on the message from the message list.
  3. 3. Select View Source.

Full headers will appear in a new Text Edit document.

Outlook 2010

  1. 1. Open Outlook.
  2. 2. Open the email message in a new window.
  3. 3. Click on the File tab from the menu bar and choose Properties.

Full headers will appear in the box within the “Internet Headers” box

Outlook 2007

  1. 1. Open Outlook.
  2. 2. Open a message in a separate window.
  3. 3. In the Message tab, in the Options group, click the “Dialog Box Launcher.”

Full headers are displayed in the Internet headers box.

Mac Mail

  1. 1. Open Mac Mail.
  2. 2. Click on the message you'd like to view headers for.
  3. 3. Go to the View menu.
  4. 4. Select Message, then Long Headers or All Headers.

The full headers will appear in the window below your inbox.

Entourage

  1. 1. Open Entourage.
  2. 2. Click on the message you'd like to view headers for.
  3. 3. Click on the Message menu and select Internet Headers.

Mozilla Thunderbird

  1. 1. Open Thunderbird.
  2. 2. Click on the message you'd like to view headers for.
  3. 3. Click the View menu, and select Message Source.

The full headers will appear in a new window.

OWA (Premium Version Only)

  1. 1. Login to OWA using Internet Explorer
  2. 2. Double-click on the message so that it opens in a new window.
  3. 3. Click on the Message Details button from the menu icons on the message window.

Note: Displaying full headers of an email message in OWA is a feature of the premium version of OWA. This version is may only work via Internet Explorer.

Gmail

  1. 1. Log in to Gmail.
  2. 2. Open the message you'd like to view headers for.
  3. 3. Click the down arrow next to Reply, at the top of the message pane.
  4. 4. Select Show Original.

The full headers will appear in a new window.

  1. 1. Log in to your AOL account.
  2. 2. Open the message you'd like to view headers for.
  3. 3. In the Action menu, select View Message Source.

The full headers will appear in a new window.

Hotmail

  1. 1. Log in to your Hotmail account.
  2. 2. Select Inbox from the left-side menu.
  3. 3. Right-click (or Ctrl-click) the message you'd like to view headers for, and select View Message Source.

The full headers will appear in a new window.

Yahoo! Mail

  1. 1. Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
  2. 2. Select the message you'd like to view headers for.
  3. 3. Click the Actions dropdown and select View Full Headers.

The full headers will appear in a new window.
